SOUTH SUDAN: Dry Season, December To March Is Best Time To Visit South Sudan

Seven, Ten and Fifteen Day Safaris

The best time to visit South Sudan is in the dry season, which is late December to late March. Although we operate all year.
The following 9 Routes are based upon our experience as to what is practical, with roads, things to see, distances and locations to set up camp

SAFARI ROUTE 1 (10 days)
Dates 2017 - Jan 21-30, Mar 8-17(Photo Safari), Dec 24,2017-Jan 2, 2018(Ethno Safari -Christmas/NewYears)
Dates 2018 - Jan 5-14 (Ethno safari)
Price Per Person - $3475 usd
Day 1 - Arrive on FlyDubai flight into Juba at 1445 from Dubai (Arrive into Dubai the night prior on Emirates Airlines). Although you can use any airline you wish to arrive into Juba. See our web page on flights into Juba. After Customs and Immigration in Juba, drive direct to our camp among the Mundari people, that was set up the day before near Terakeka. About 1 hour drive. Picnic Lunch and cold drinks aboard the vehicle.
Day 2 - Drive to Torit, visiting the Lotuko people in the afternoon, after a drive from Terakeka. You pass back through Juba enroute to Torit. Set up Mobile camp for the night outside Torit or we will use the Hotel Torit.
Day 3 - Drive to Kapoeta in the morning. Visit Toposa and Jie villages in the afternoon. Camp will be set-up within the mango camp compound. See the Toposa page for a photo Mango camp.
Day 4 - Stay a second night in Kapoeta, at the same Mango camp, visiting various villages of the Toposa and Jie people throughout the day.
Day 5 - Drive slowly from Kapoeta to half way between Kapoeta and Boma National Park Headquarters, stopping at different Toposa, Jie and Murle Villages, enroute. Camp in a Murle village.
Day 6 - Drive slowly to Boma National Park Headquarters, stopping at different Murle Villages enroute. You will be within Boma National Park most of this drive. Set up mobile a camp next to park headquarters.
Day 7 - Stay in Boma Park searching for Wildlife within the park. Use the same mobile Camp, next to park headquarter. The village of Mewun, a Suri/Kachipo village will be visited.
Day 8 - Drive slowly to Pibor, passing through Boma National Park, stopping at Murle and Nuer villages. You will be within Boma National Park most of this drive. Mobile Camp set up next to the Pibor River.
Day 9 - Drive from Pibor to Bor, stopping in Jiye, Nuer and Dinka Villages and cattle camps. Camp in a Dinka village near Bor.
Day 10 - Drive direct to Juba Intl airport to arrive at least 2 hours before the departure on Fly Dubai flight, departing at 1545 to Dubai with connections onward on Emirates Airlines. You can use any airline you wish, however please use an afternoon departure.

SAFARI ROUTE 2 (7 days)

Day 1- Arrive on FlyDubai flight into Juba at 1445 from Dubai (Arrive into Dubai the night prior on Emirates Airlines). See our web page about flights into Juba for all airline options. After Customs and Immigration in Juba, drive direct to our camp among the Mundari people, that was set up the day before at tetakeka. About 1 hour drive depending on road conditions and rain. Day 4- Drive 5 hours from Mundari to (pass through Juba)Nimule National Park. Mobile Camp
Day 5- Nimule National Park rapids and search for wildlife. Mobile Camp
Day 6- Nimule National Park boat trip to island in the Nile River and search for Wildlife. Mobile Camp.
Day 7- Drive 3 hours to Juba Intl Airport for departure on FlyDubai flight at 1545 to Dubai, then connect onward on Emirates Airlines. You can use any airline you wish, just please use an afternoon departure.

SAFARI ROUTE 3 (7 days) Kidepo Valley Game Reserve -
Across the international border between South Sudan and Uganda is the famous Kidepo Valley National Park of Uganda, that is teaming with wildlife. There is only the non-fensed border between the two parks. Visit the Didinga Hills and Lotuke Mountains, visit the tribal people of the area. See our web page on this park.

2017 Dates: April 9-15 (Easter week)
Day 1 - Arrive on FlyDubai flight into Juba at 1445 from Dubai (Arrive into Dubai the night prior on Emirates Airlines). For all information on airlines flying into Juba see this link. After Customs and Immigration in Juba, drive direct to our camp at Torit, that was set up the day before or we will use Hotel Torit. Picnic Lunch and cold drinks aboard the vehicle. About a 3 hour drive depending on road conditions. Mobile Camp.
Day 2 - Drive to Lobira on the main road and turn south to Nagishot. Driving along the western edge of the Didinga Hills. About a 3-4 hour drive depending on road conditions. Pass through Toposa and Jie villages. Mobile camp for the night.
Day 3 - Drive to the border of South Sudan with Uganda, within Kidepo Valley Game reserve. Pass through Boya tribal villages. About a 1 to 2 hour drive depending on road conditions. Mobile camp for the Night. Explore the Kidepo Game Reserve. Mobile Camp for the night.
Days 4 & 5 - Explore the Kidepo Game Reserve. Same mobile camp for these nights.
Day 6 - Drive back to Torit 4-6 hours depending on the road. Mobile Camp for the night.
Day 7 - Drive 3 hours direct to Juba Intl Aiport for departure on FlyDubai flight departing at 1545 to Dubai, then connect onward on Emirates Airlines. You can use any airline you wish, however please use a flight departure in the afternoon.

SAFARI ROUTE 4 (10 days) Southern National Park Exploratory Safari -
This huge Park was reported at one time to have large herds of Nile Buffalo, grass that reached 2 meters high, Island ecosystems supporting monkeys. See our web page on this park.

After Customs and Immigration in Juba, drive to the town of Mundri to our camp set up the day before. About 3-4 hours drive depending on road conditions. Picnic lunch and drinks aboard the vehicle.
Day 2 - Drive 6-7 hours depending on the road to Rumbek, then past to the edge of the park and set up the Mobile Camp.
Day 3 - Drive into Southern National Park 1-2 hours and set up the Mobile camp to be used for the next 5 nights. Local tribal hunters are used as guides.
Day 4, 5, 6 & 7 - Explore Southern National Park. Mobile camp at nights.
Day 8 - Drive back to Rumbek and then toward Juba and set up camp, after 6-7 hours driving.
Day 9 - Drive to the town of Mundri and set up camp.
Day 10 - Drive Direct to Juba Intl Airport for departure on FlyDubai flight departing at 1545 to Dubai, then connect onward on Emirates Airlines. You can use any airline you wish, just please an afternoon departure.

SAFARI ROUTE 5 (7 days) Bandingalo National Park
Tiang antelope migrating toward the Nile River

This park was created to receive the migratory herds from Boma National Park and the Sudd during the wet season. Road conditions will be wet and there will be rain, but expect to see thousands of Tiang Antelope, White-eared Kob Antelope and Mongalla Gazelle.

Day 1 - Arrive on FlyDubai flight into Juba at 1445 from Dubai (arrive into Dubai the night prior on Emirates Airlines). See the following web page link for other airlines flying into Juba. After Customs and Immigration in Juba, drive direct to our camp in Bandingalo National Park, that was set up the day before. About 2 hour drive depending on road conditions. Picnic lunch and cold drinks aboard the vehicle.
Days 2-6 - Explore Bandingalo National Park. Mobile camp each night.
Day 7 - Drive direct to Juba Intl airport for FlyDubai flight departure at 1545 to Dubai, then connect onward on Emirates Airlines.

SAFARI ROUTE 6 (15 days) Follow the greatest migration of Mammals on the earth.
This safari is designed to intercept the herds of migrating Kob and Tang in Boma National Park. Most of the safari will be in the roadless wilderness of the park. Boma National Park is the largest park in all of Africa.

Day 1 - Arrive on FlyDubai flight into Juba at 1445 from Dubai (arrive into Dubai the night prior on Emirates Airlines). See the following link for other airlines flying into Juba. After Customs and Immigration in Juba, drive direct to our camp at Torit, that was set up the day before or we will use Hotel Torit. Picnic lunch and drinks aboard the vehicle.
Day 2- Drive toward the park headquarters passing through Kapoeta, going through Toposa & Jie Villages and make camp at a Murle village.
Day 3 - Drive to Nyat and the Boma Park Headquarters, going through Murle Villages and make camp near the park headquarters.
Day 4 - Drive into the park to intercept the Kob and Tiang antelope herds coming from Ethiopia. Animals radio collared should give us GPS coordinates. Make camp.
Days 5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12 - These days will be spent in Boma National Park following and intercepting herds of the migration. The camp will be moved only as necessary.
Days 13 & 14 -These days will be spent getting back to Torit. The route will depend on where the migration takes us to on Day 12. Most likely we will cut across roadless wilderness to Torit, navigating by GPS.
Day 15 - Drive direct to Juba Intl airport at least 2 hours before the FlyDubai flight departure at 1545. You can use any airline you wish, just please use an afternoon departure flight.

Sangaita river in Eastern Equatorial state. This is typical of the roadless terraine that we will navigate across with GPS during days 13 & 14 of your safari, when returning to Torit.

SAFARI ROUTE 7 (10 days) Bird Safari -
This safari is specifically designed for Birding.

Day 1- Arrive on FlyDubai flight from Dubai into Juba at 1445. For information on flights into Juba see this link. After Customs and immigration in Juba, drive direct to our camp among the Mundari people, that was set-up the day before at Terakeka. About 1 hour drive. Picnic lunch and cold drinks aboard the vehicle.
Day 2- Spend the day on the west shore of the Nile River birding and visit the Mundari people.
Day 3- Drive Terakeka to Kapoeta (passing through Juba) - and camp inside the Mango Camp compound (see photo of the camp on the Toposa Villages page.
Days 4 & 5- Bird around Kapoeta coming back to the base camp at Mango camp each night. You will visit the Toposa and Jie villages while birding.
Day 6- Drive back to Juba for night in a hotel - Hotel cost and meals included. We will place two people to each room with two single beds, unless you request a single room. Dinner at Notos Lounge Bar & Grill tonight. See photo of Notos Lounge Bar & Grill on this page.
Day 7- Drive north to Jonglei (75 km north of Bor) on the east bank of the Nile River and set up camp. This is the start of the great Sudd Swamp.
Days 8 & 9- Bird around Jonglei and visit Dinka cattle camps. Canoes will be used to go a short distance into the swamp, depending on the river current.
Day 10- Early morning departure for the Juba Intl airport to reach the Juba Intl airport at least two hours before the FlyDubai departure at 1545. Picnic lunch and cold drinks in the vehicles. You can use any airline you wish, just please use an afternoon departure.

SAFARI ROUTE 8 (10 days) Follow the greatest migration of Mammals on the earth.

SAFARI ROUTE 9 (7 DAYS) Visit the Pari and Lotuko Villages
Dates in 2017:
April 18-24 and June 4-10
Price per person $2750 usd
Day 1 - Depart direct from the the Juba Intl Airport to a base camp set up among the Pari people at Lafon the day prior, About a 2-3 hour drive depending on the weather.
Day 2 & 3 - Visit various villages of the Pari within driving distance of the base camp set up Day 1
Day 4 - Move camp to Torit and reset the base camp.
Days 5 & 6 - Visit various Lotuko villages returning to the same base camp setup day 4.
Day 7. Depart base camp early and arrive Juba Intl airport in time for an afternoon departure

Included In All Safaris:
All meals during the safari, while in our mobile camp.
