MONGOLIA: Night at Bogd Khan's Museum



An entertainment group “The Majesty ” along with Bogd Khan`s Palace Museum to jointly organize contemporary music show named “Night at Bogd Khan’s Palace” to promote Mongolian historic sites to youths, foreign residents and tourists through contemporary music.

The event will be held on Aug 22 at 17:00 at the Honor Square of Bogd Khan`s Palace Museum. What is now Bogd Khan`s Palace Museum used to serve as the winter residence for Mongolian last king - The Eighth BogdJetsundampa or Bogd Khan. The palace museum witnessed the movement for independence and now became one of the important Mongolian historic sites from 19-20th century.
The collections of the museum include unique and valuable objects related to Mongolia`s political, religious and artistic history from the 17th to early 20th centuries including bronze castings, silk paintings and paper mache icons made by well-known artists and artisans of the period, among others the first Bogd Zanabazar and his school; as well as objects owned and used by the Eighth Bogd Jetsundampa and his queen Dondogdulam, including royal clothing and equipment, gifts from domestic and foreign guests or representatives and items purchased by the king for his own use.
The organizers emphasized that this event will be different from previous events with its aim to introduce contemporary music, especially underground electronic music to youth while calling for youths to protect and restore the historical and cultural heritage.

The event is taxed (MNT 25.000 or USD 13) and the revenue from the event will be donated to restoration of the Bogd Khan`s Summer Palace which has been at the centre of long criticism from historians and researchers for neglecting.
The TsamDance - an ancient dancing ritual of Buddhism is also included in the program of the event.
