UGANDA: Police Arrest Nigerian Drug Trafficker

Aviation police have arrested another Nigerian national in possession of 83 pellets of narcotics at Entebbe Airport. The drugs were later discovered to be cocaine.

The police officer in charge of investigations at Aviation Police Station, Ms Simori Natali, said the 40-year-old arrived in Uganda on July 18.

While in Uganda, he booked into Pacific and Arambe Hotel in Kampala City where he used to meet different people who, it is suspected, gave him cocaine to be smuggled to the Netherlands.

Ms Natali said police followed the suspect since his arrival in Uganda and on his way back to the Netherlands last Saturday, he was arrested as he prepared to board Brussels Airlines.

“The suspect was promised Euro 25,000 (Shs94.2million) after delivering the package to the owners staying in Netherlands,” said Ms Natali.

The suspect is the seventh case in connection with trafficking of cocaine registered at the Aviation Police this year. He is the second Nigerian to be arrested this year at Entebbe Airport for drug trafficking
